Someone asked me what the best day of my life was.
Was it the day you graduated college? How about the day you proposed in Tokyo? The day you found out you got your dream job? It’s definitely the day you got married around your closest friends and family, right?
These were are all monumental, special, and memorable days, but the best day of my life was actually today.
I woke up on a beautiful sunny San Francisco Saturday morning next to my wife and our dog, Milo. I took Milo for a quick walk before my wife and I went to the gym together.
After our workout we grabbed lunch at a local mom and pop Vietnamese restaurant. We both got pho.
Then, we went to the Asian grocery store next door to pick up ingredients for dinner. She’s making hot pot. The store didn’t have the sauce we liked, so we went to another grocery store after. We got a little sweet treat for the drive home too.
After we came home and got cleaned up, we have no more responsibilities. It’s 2:30pm and there are no more obligations for the rest of the day.
I decide to spend 15 minutes stretching, and then take Milo on a walk by myself. I love walking and being alone with my thoughts. We end up walking 6 miles and almost 3 hours, hitting up 5 different parks in my beautiful city. Alta Plaza has the best view. The sun is shining, people are out, and the city is alive.
We come home and I help my wife prep for dinner. We enjoy a delicious hot pot feast together, and talk about our days and week.
We clean up, and get ready for bed. We have a small TV in the bedroom now, and watch a show we both love. Milo is there with us too. She makes frozen yogurt with her Ninja Creami, and tops it with mango, strawberries, and dragonfruit. It’s delicious, homemade, and healthy too.
Eventually we get tired after watching a few episodes, and it’s time to sleep. I ask her what she’s grateful for. She asks me the same. We fall asleep next to each other and Milo, our little family.
Today was the best day of my life.
And I can’t wait for the best day of my life again tomorrow.
